Senapati, February 13 2026:
Preparations are in full swing at Ukhrul Headquarters Ground as the Naga community gears up to celebrate Lui-Ngai-Ni 2026, the Naga Seed Sowing Festival, on February 14 and 15 under the aegis of the United Naga Council.
The festival is organised by the State Level Organising Committee and hosted by the Tangkhul Naga Long.
This year's theme, "Cultural Renaissance," reflects a renewed commitment to preserving and celebrating Naga heritage.
Even as concerns persist over the prevailing situation at Litan, organisers have confirmed that the festival will proceed as scheduled, carrying forward its message of unity and cultural strength.
Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland, will grace the occasion as chief guest, while Losii Dikho, Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, will attend as guest of honour.
The main celebrant will be Dinganglung Gangmei, and Awangbow Newmai will serve as principal celebrant.
Several other legislators and dignitaries from across the region are also expected to participate in different segments of the two-day programme.
Cultural troupes, traditional attire, folk performances, and customary seed-sowing rituals will be the highlight of the celebration.
For many, Lui-Ngai-Ni is more than a festival, it is a symbol of shared identity, hope, and continuity.
As Ukhrul prepares to host thousands of visitors, the anticipation is palpable.
Amid challenges, the message remains clear - culture endures, and unity stands firm.
