YUVA to observe 'Gwaltabi Khuntakpa Ningsing Thouram' on May 28

The Youth United Voluntary Association (YUVA) will observe 'Gwaltabi Khuntakpa Ningsing Thouram' on May 28 in Lamlai Assembly Constituency to mark the day Gwaltabi village was attacked andresidents displaced.
Addressing media persons today at Manipur Press Club, YUVA convenor Thangjam Luwangba Meitei said the programme will be held to remember the May 28, 2023 incident, when "Kuki narco terrorists" allegedly attacked Gwaltabi, a Meitei village in the northeast of Imphal East.
He appealed to the people of Manipur, especially residents of Lamlai AC, to participate in the programme.
The observance is being organised so that present and future generations remember the day and to ensure such incidents do not recur, he said.
Luwangba said Gwaltabi remains displaced since the May 28, 2023 attack.
Villagers are currently taking shelter in two relief campsone at Sawombung and another at Nongada.
He said most people in Lamlai AC, especially the youth, depend on daily wage work to sustain their families.
The situation has not improved even after three years, he said.
The programme is being held to prevent such incidents in future and to build resolve so that localities can defend their villages with strength, he added.
