Imphal, August 05, 2012:
Candidates, who appeared in the Manipur Civil Service Combined Examination conducted by Manipur Public Service Commission, have charged that the result of the exam declared on July 31 last was erroneous.
Addressing media persons at DM College here today, Y Jotin, who is one of the candidates appeared in the said exam, pointed out that the General, OBC Meetei, OBC Meetei Pangal, SC, ST and Physically handicapped candidates should be selected under the system of 1:5 and 1:2 for Preliminary and Main Exams respectively.
Though the system of selection for the Preliminary exam followed the prescribed norms, the selection for the main exam failed to satisfy the prescribed norms of 1:2, he contended.
Jotin further informed that though the number of seats for OBC in the preliminary was 18, 94 OBC candidates were selected.
However, in the main exam, though the number of reserved seats ought to be 36, only 23 OBC candidates were selected.
Moreover, out of the 34 seats reserved for SC in Preliminary, 174 candidates were selected.
Only 46 candidates were selected in Mains exam when the seats reserved ought to be 68.For SC, the selection procedure in the preliminary exam was done correctly, but the selection procedure was incorrect in the Main exam.
Only 2 candidates were selected when the actual number of candidates to be selected was 4.In the Physically handicapped category too, the selection procedure was found to be incorrect, he added.
