Manipur University opens Hindi Pakhwada with workshop on 'AI and Hindi'

The Official Language Cell, Manipur University, inaugurated Hindi Pakhwada 2026 on Thursday with a one-day Hindi workshop on "Artificial Intelligence and Hindi" at the Committee Room, VC Secretariat, Manipur University.
The workshop aimed at promoting the use of Hindi in everyday official work through modem technology and providing practical support to employees facing difficulties in Hindi noting and drafting.
Addressing the inaugural programme, Vice Chancellor in-charge and Chairman of the University's Official Language Implementation Committee, Prof RK Hemakumar Singh, encouraged employees to make Hindi a natural part of daily office work and look beyond its use as an official obligation.
Welcoming the gathering, Assistant Director, Official Language Cell Dr Binita Akoijam said artificial intelligence could help employees overcome challenges and strengthen Hindi usage, and called for collective participation beyond the Cell.
She said competitions have been planned to minimise disruption to regular work and efforts will be made to facilitate Hindi training including online mode.
During the technical session, Programmer Dr Tilokchand Irengbam as resource person highlighted AI platforms such as Bhashini, Kanthasth, Gyan Bharatam and Adi Vaani, collaborative efforts of Department of Official Language, MHA and C-DAC, MeitY.
Registrar Prof M Premjit Singh, Finance Officer Prof Laishram Rajendra Singh, Assistant Registrar Anisul Alam, Librarian i/c Dr Memori Sagolsem, PRO Dr Sakila Nongmeikapam, OLIC members, teachers and staff attended.
