Lions Club reaches out to flood victims

Imphal, July 03 2025: In response to the devastating floods affecting various parts of Manipur, Lions Club of Manipur region conducted a large-scale humanitarian relief operation, demonstrating its enduring commitment to the motto, "We Serve".

As per a release issued by Lions Club, the relief camp covered six flood-hit localities in Imphal East- Kongba Kshetri Leikai Lamjing Naharol Meira Club; Sindam Shanglen Club Relief Camp, Kongba Laishram Leikai Community Hall; Kongba Laishram Leikai Development Committee, Kongba; Okram Chuthek Wangkhei Loumanbi Community Hall; Kongba Chanam Leikai Naharol Lamjing Club, Thambalkhong; COSMO Club Wangkhei Laishram Leikai; Young Voluntary Organisation (YVO), Wangkhei; Naharol Sintha Club, Wangkhei; Ningthem Pukhri Mapal Leirak Community Hall, Ayangpalli; and Social Uplift Club, Ningthem Pukhri Mapal.

With coordinated efforts from the local Lions Clubs, the initiative reached more than 2,220 individuals and families, providing much-needed supplies including food, drinking water, and hygiene essentials (62 bags of 50 kg rice, 444 kg potatoes, 444 kg salt, 444 mustard oil half litre, 444 kg dal, 2200 mineral water 1 liter bottle, 1332 body soaps.

Th Kesho Singh, DG Lions International District 322D, said, "Lions Clubs have been reaching to needy people as per our Humanitarian efforts whenever such a requirement comes.

This was not just a relief mission it was a message of solidarity and hope".

M Shaymbabu, GST coordinator, added "When disaster strikes, we are here to support our communities in every way we can" .

Lions Clubs International has a long-standing tradition of being among the first responders during crises, bringing volunteers and resources to the forefront of humanitarian action.

The initiative was met with heartfelt appreciation from the beneficiaries, many of whom had lost homes, belongings, and access to basic necessities due to the floodwaters.

The act of service is one of many efforts carried out by the Lions network, underscoring the power of community and the enduring relevance of the Lions' global mission, "Serving with compassion and dedication" .
