Imphal, December 02 2025: State Handloom Expo (Hathkargha Mela) 2025 was inaugurated today at Thoubal Mela Ground, organised by the Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation Limited under the sponsorship of the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handloom), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

During the inaugural of the 14-day expo, the chief guest, Th Basanta, General Manager of Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation Limited, said the Corporation,with continued support from the Ministry of Textiles, has been organising various State Handloom Expos to promote handloom products and textiles of the State.

He stated that such events provide a platform for the weavers and artisans of the State to showcase and sell their products to a wider audience, thereby enhancing their livelihoods and sustaining traditional craftsmanship.

Speaking as the functional president, the Assistant Director & HoO of Weavers Service Centre, Imphal, Beauty Mili urged weavers of the State to improve product quality and authenticity in order to meet global standards.

She emphasized that maintaining traditional techniques while increasing production would help the State's handloom sector further grow.

The event was also attended by Heikham Sunita, State Awardee (Handloom), who graced the occasion as guest of honour.
