Outreach programme held at Purum Tampak

The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Field Office Chandel, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, organised a Special Outreach Programme (SOP) on the occasion of World No-Tobacco Day 2026 at Purum Tampak village in Chandel district on Sunday.
Held under the global theme, "Unmasking the Appeal: Countering Nicotine and Tobacco Addiction," the programme sought to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption.
The event was attended by President of Purum Tampak SHG Cluster, MK Ahalpi, and retired Headmaster PR Winson Babu as special guests, while Principal of Smart Life Academy Leivon John Kobari served as the resource person.
Speaking at the programme, Mathew Sk Bengam, Field Publicity Assistant of Central Bureau of Communication Field Office Chandel, outlined the campaign's goal to unmask tobacco industry tactics and counter addiction.
As part of the programme, a live spot-quiz competition was conducted to encourage community participation and reinforce awareness messages.
Winners were awarded prizes and certificates in recognition of their performance.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Central Bureau of Communication Chandel team.
