Man convicted for sexual assault

A 53-year old man has been convicted by Fast Track Special Court No 2, Manipur for committing sexual assault on a minor on March 7, 2018 somewhere in Imphal East district.
The convict who was on bail in connection with the present case appeared before the Court for the announcement of the judgment order and was taken into judicial custody soon after the announcement of the judgment order.
A complaint was lodged by the mother of the victim stating that her minor daughter was sexually assaulted by Huidrom Amusana (53) s/o Kulachandra of Nungoi Makha Leikai by kissing her face, touching her private part with his hand and committed sexual assault in his bedroom at around 3 pm on March 7, 2018 while the complainant was away for purchasing wares for her shop at Khwairamband Bazar.
When the complainant returned home, she found her daughter was not feeling well and the minor girl told her that she felt severe pain on her private part while peeing but didn't disclose anything.
On the next day at around 5 pm, her youngest daughter Doli (not real name) informed the complainant that her elder sister (victim) had peed some blood.
As such she(complainant) began to suspect what might have happened to her daughter Later on the night of the same day, after having their dinner, the mother convinced her daughter(victim) by giving her eatables in order to disclose what actually took place.
Then the victim disclosed that the convict called her out while she(victim) was playing around with her younger sister namely Doli(4) years and her cousin brother Nao (not real name) and took her (victim) to a nearby shop and bought her Hawai (Mangan) and later took her inside his bedroom and sexually assaulted her forcibly and also warned the victim that she will be killed if she discloses the matter to anybody.
The convict was arrested at around 2:20 pm on March 9, 2018 .
After completion of the investigation, a charge sheet was submitted before the Court concerned and charges were framed against the convict under Section 6 of POCSO Act on December 18, 2020.Altogether 12 prosecution witnesses, 16 document exhibits and six material objects were examined in the course of the trial.
The Convict, in his defence, produced four defence witnesses before the Court.
W Tonen, Judge, Fast Track Special Court No 2, after hearing the submission of Special PP M Bishambhor, the defence counsel and on perusal of all materials on record and exhibits, convicted Huidrom Amusana under Section 6 of the POCSO Act and fixed July 7 for sentence hearing.
