Imphal, April 23 2024:
The Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) Manipur has appealed to the State Government and relevant authorities to take up some initiatives which can boost the morale of the police personnel guarding the border town Moreh.
FOCS, in a statement, highlighted the predicaments the State force personnel have been enduring since the 'Chin-Kuki terrorists' started a violent campaign against the Meeteis on May 3, 2023 .
FOCS also reminded the ban placed by Chin-Kuki organisations on selling goods to the State force at the border town, torching of a tanker for supplying water to police, and the healthcare problems being faced by police personnel due to the shortage of doctors and medicines at Moreh.
It also reminded that one police personnel had died of Dengue at Moreh.
Saying that there are also not adequate bullet proof vehicles at Moreh and some police personnel have been killed while taking out ROP at the border town, FOCS claimed that the top brass of State police, however, don't pay much attention to the difficulties being faced by the police personnel at Moreh.
All these shortcomings may demoralise the police personnel, FOCS said and urged the State Govt and the relevant authorities to take up some initiatives in the interest of the State force.
FOCS suggested that deployment of police personnel on rotational basis at Moreh will not only boost the morale of the police but also increase their capability to enforce law and order at the border town.
Claiming that the 10 casspirs which the State's Home Department procured from the Tata Company are mostly utilised in Imphal, FOCS urged the Government and the authorities concerned to utilise the casspirs in suppressing the 'Chin-Kuki terrorists' at Moreh and other sensitive areas.
