MAMPIL threatens to lockdown MMC office

Moirang Kendra Apunba Meira Paibi Ima Lup (MAMPIL) has threatened that office of Moirang Municipal Council will be locked down if the long lying under-developed area and non-functional markets coveredbyMoirangMunicipal Council have not been revamped or made functional by October 10.In a press meet held in front of the temporary office of MAMPIL, situated opposite to INA Martyrs Memorial Complex, President Konjengbam Padamo Devi said that Moirang is a historic place with more than 2000 years of legacy but no major development has taken in the constituency in recent times due to councilorless Moirang Municipal Council who have been put under suspension since last three months which has hampered in churning out various developmental work of the Council while many new markets were remained dysfunctional after inauguration MAMPIL, in many occasions, tried to meet Executive Officer (EO) of the concerned Municipal Council regarding the issue, but remained fruitless.
Therefore, MAMPIL is compelled to issue the ultimatum to the concerned authority including local MLA per se, she added while appealing for the early reinstatement of the suspended councilors.
She also urged the authority concerned to remove all the shops doing business in front of Khoyol market at Moirang Lamkhai and barred the street vendors to sell their products in front of the said market.
She then went to say that all the shops built inside the Khoyol market be let open while adding that the modern fish market at Moirang Patlou Leikai be renovated by Moirang Municipal Council to provide better services to the public.
She also decried on the unresponsive mind-set of the establishment which has remained aloof of the pleas of the MAMPIL to develop Khamnu market at Moirang to meet the present flow of marketers while urging the authority concerned to repair the said market in the interest of the public yet again.
