Moirangpurel CHC cites rising expenses behind OPD ticket fee increase

Imphal, July 30 2026: The Management Committee of Moirangpurel Community Health Centre (CHC) has clarified that it was compelled to increase the OPD ticket fee due to the additional expenses required to run the health centre amid a shortage of staff and inadequate infrastructure.

Addressing a press conference at the premises of the health centre, Takhellambam Deewal, advisor of the Management Committee of the CHC, said that healthcare service at Moirangpurel was upgraded to a CHC in 2019, and prior to that, the facility was run by only one Grade IV staff member.

Saying that the CHC still doesn't have adequate doctors and staff despite periodic transfers, he added that local MLA Thongam Shyamkumar had been extending assistance to keep the health centre functioning.

The CHC currently has 15 staff members, including those engaged privately, he said, adding that the OPD ticket fee was increased to meet the expenses of the privately engaged staff and other requirements.

He appealed to the Health Directorate to look into the matter and do the needful.
