"Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan" launched

The "Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan", a Nationwide campaign aimed at transforming Indian agriculture through scientific intervention was launched in the State on Thursday.
Rajya Sabha MP and titular King of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba launched the State-Level "Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan of Manipur" at Loktak Farmer's Hostel, Lamphelpat.
The event organised by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat, was graced by Leishemba Sanajaoba and Dr Ch Basudha Devi, Head of Regional Centre, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre as the chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Leishemba Sanajaoba said that the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan will be carried out as a campaign across different districts of Manipur over a span of 15 days, covering all 9 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) in the State.
He mentioned that during the campaign, farmers and local experts are encouraged to share their ideas and suggestions with the campaign officials to enhance awareness and effectiveness.
"To support this initiative, the Government has announced the collection of feedback and suggestions from farmers either through direct interaction or via two 24x7 toll-free numbers: 011-25846410 and 011-25840184", he added.
The MP also asserted that around 50 percent of Manipur's population depends on agriculture and allied sector activities for their livelihood.
"Therefore, the Government has taken initiatives to support farmers.
If the agriculture and allied sectors are developed, Manipur will see significant growth in its economic activities", he added.
Later, Leishemba Sanajaoba flagged off nine vehicles carrying the message of Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan.
Moreover, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Imphal East, Directorate of Extension Education, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal also organised the launching programme of "Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan of Manipur" at District Agriculture Office, Imphal East.
The launching programme was graced by dignitaries, including Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension Education, CAU Imphal; and Dr Y Prabhabati Devi, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Imphal East.
At the event, Dr Y Prabhabati said that the campaign aims to equip farmers with knowledge about modem farming techniques and to raise awareness about various Government schemes available under the Ministry of Agriculture.
"As part of the campaign, awareness programmes will be conducted in 108 villages across Imphal East district.
Teams of experts from KVK Imphal East, ICAR, CAU, District Agriculture Office, District Veterinary Office and District Horticulture Office will inform the farmers about organic farming, mushroom cultivation, natural farming, integrated farming system, composite fish culture, soil health, water conservation, climate resistance, etc", added Dr Y Prabhabati.
