Workshop / production of Thougal Jagoi begins at Moirang Khunou

Moirang, October 26 2025: A 22-day workshop cum production on "Thougal Jagoi", a traditional art form closely associated with the sacred Lai Haraoba festival of Manipur, commenced today at the auditorium hall of Panthoibi Thang Ta and Jagoi Sindam Shanglen, Moirang Khunou, Bishnupur district.

The initiative aims to promote and preserve Thougal Jagoi and inculcate its cultural value among the youths.

Organised by the Panthoibi Thang Ta and Jagoi Sindam Shanglen, Moirang Khunou under the Guru Shishya Parampara Scheme of the Ministry of Culture, Govt Of India, the workshop is scheduled to continue till November 16, 2025.Around 30 girl students from Bishnupur district are participating in the workshop.

Junior Fellow of Dance under the Ministry of Culture, Ngasepam Meneka Devi, is serving as the lead guru for Thougal Jagoi.

The programme also features Haobijam Gourashyam and Laiphrakpam Inaoton as gurus of Pung, while Chongtham Ganga and Moiranthem Aruna guide the students in the song segment.
