Imphal, July 25 2026:
As part of efforts to set up a dedicated Study Centre for Sanamahi Laining, the Amaiba Loishang of Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board conducted its first examination for Amaiba trainees today at Lainingthou Sanamahi Shanglen, Haying Khongbal Uphong Yumpham, Imphal.
Around 70 trainees appeared for the test.
The examination was the first for a 6-month course organised for priests and those undergoing Amaiba training.
Speaking on the occasion, LSTB member secretary Sandham Gandharaj said there is an urgent need for qualified Amaibas to carry out religious and ritual activities in Meitei society.
To ensure proper conduct of rites, the Amaiba Loishang has started this training initiative, he said.
He added that the course aims to preserve and promote the customs and religious traditions handed down by ancestors.
The Board is also working to open more institutions related to Sanamahi practices to further strengthen the faith, asserted Gandharaj.
