KVK conducts training on Broomgrass cultivation

KVK, Churachandpur on Thursday conducted a training programme on "Cultivation of Broomgrass Intercropped with Ricebean in Abandoned Jhumland" at its training hall.
A KVK release informed that the training aims to equip farmers with necessary skills and knowledge to adopt the innovative farming practice.
In his address, KVK, Churachandpur senior scientist and head Dr Manoj Kumar Pandey presented a brief note on purpose of the programme which also had STC/BSF Churachandpur commandant PR Prabhakar and second in-command Ravi Shankar Trivedi as dignitaries of the inaugural session.
Ravi Shankar Trivedi also deliberated on the importance of intercropping for enhancement of productivity and encouraged farmers to opt for organic farming for health.
As a part of the programme, subject matter specialist (Agroforestry) BS Hmannihring Anal shared her expertise on intercropping cultivation techniques of broomgrass and ricebean.
The training programme covered the importance of utilising abandoned jhumland for cultivation, promoting sustainable agriculture practices.
During the training, kharif vegetable seeds under the NEH component, IARI, New Delhi, were distributed to all participants, enabling them to apply the learned techniques in their fields.
A certification programme for VKSA campaigners (May 29 to July 12, 2025) from line departments was also conducted in conjunction with the training programme, the release added.
