Foundation Day celebrated

The"78th Foundation- Day of CPI in Manipur" was celebrated today at Keishampat Keisham Leikai Community Hall today.
The celebration was graced by Langol Iboyaima, member, Control Commission, CPI Manipur; Dr M Nara, chairman, Control Commission, CPI Manipur; A Nabachandra, state secretary, CPI Manipur; L Sotinkumar, former state secretary, CPI Manipur; L Thoiren, former state secretary, CPI Manipur; M Kadambini, patron member, All Manipur Nupi Marup; veteran communists Kh Gambhir and Th Yaiskul as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, L Sotinkumar said that CPI was established in Manipur on August 23, 1948 under the leadership of renowned revolutionary social activist Hijam Irabot.
He recalled the instances leading to the formation of the party and the political state of affairs in Manipur back then.
He asserted that the party will be launching a series of public movements till the 2027 Assembly election on themes/ slogans such as "Free & fair election", "Ensure free mandate election", "Good governance", "Safeguard integrity of Manipur", "Corruption-free governance", "Restore peace in Manipur", "Safe humanism", "Free & safe travels for all people on National Highways", etc .
L Sotinkumar also elaborated on the need for the present generation to acknowledge the vision & immense contributions of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot to the Manipuri society, and follow his footsteps in order to build an egalitarian and progressive society.
As part of the event, the gathering offered floral tributes to the deceased founder members of CPI Manipur.
They also observed two minutes of silence as a mark of respect to Late Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, Veteran leader of CPI and founder members of CPI Manipur.
