Demand Committee, others call on Governor

Imphal, September 22 2025:
Representatives of the Eastern Area Border Haat Demand Committee (Pilong, Kamjong District) today, called on Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, and submitted a memorandum seeking the setting up of a Border Haat at Pilong, Kamjong district, near the Indo-Myanmar border.
As per a release issued by PRO Raj Bhavan, the Committee apprised the Governor about the strategic and economic importance of Pilong, situated about 40 km from Kamjong district headquarters and close to the Myanmar border.
They pointed out that the location has long served as a traditional trading area for local communities and holds significant potential for enhancing cross-border trade and improving livelihoods in the region.
The Governor gave a patient hearing to the delegation and informed them that their concerns raised in the memorandum would be taken up with the appropriate authorities for further consideration.
Moreover, representatives of the Wheelchair Basketball Association Manipur also called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan today, following then-remarkable achievement as runners-up in the recently held National Wheelchair Basketball Tournament.
The Manipur team put up an impressive performance and reached the finals, where they finished as runners-up to Maharashtra.
Their achievement has paved the way for them to represent India at the upcoming international tournament in Thailand.
The Governor congratulated the team on their dedication, sportsmanship, and determination, and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence as they prepare to compete on the global stage.
