Month-long 129th birth anniversary celebration of Lamyanba Irawat reaches Thoubal, Kakching

The month-long 129th birth anniversary of Jana Neta Irawat reached Kakching and Thoubal districts today with events commemorating the "Lamyanba".
At Kakching, the birth anniversary was observed by the Jana Neta Irawat Celebration Committee Kakching at the auditorium of the Library and Information Centre at Kakching Phousupat Leikai.
CPI Manipur State Council secretary L Thoiren, former Minister Dr M Nara, former Minister Thokchom Tomba, Yengkhom Dhananjoy, Mayanglambam Iboyaima, Yambem Chaoba and Yambem Satya among others attended the observance.
Speaking on the observance, veteran CPI leader Dr M Nara talked about the present Manipur conflict and said there must be a solution, which everyone should pursue.
He underscored the importance of practising clean politics, and wished for the month-long celebration to bring peace in the State.
Urging youths to trace the footsteps of Jana Neta Irawat, Dr M Nara said peace will prevail when there is equality among the people.
There will be peace and tranquillity in the society when people get equal opportunity and there is inclusive growth and development, he said.
To mark the observance, the gathering paid floral tributes to the photos of Jana Neta Irawat and departed leaders of the Communist Party of India.
CPI Kakching Local Council showed respect to the departed party leaders by presenting gifts to their families.
Irawat Celebration Committee Thoubal too observed the birth anniversary at Taibang Maheikol, Thoubal Wangmataba.
Small Town Committee Thoubal ex-Commissioner M Samungou Singh, CPI Thoubal Local executive member H Noren Singh and CPI State Council member W Lukhoi Singh attended the observance.

CPI leaders, A Nabachandra, S Sorojini Devi and AK Jugeswor spoke on the various facets of the life of Lamyanba Irawat and his contributions toward Manipur society.
The resource persons spoke on the role Irawat played for protection of territorial integrity of Manipur, his contributions in the movement of women and his role in the formation of socio cultural organisation in Manipur.
At Wangjing, Khorirol Sandoklup Wangjing, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Thoubal district Wangjing branch and Ningol Khut, Manipur, Wangjing observed the birth anniversary of Hijam Irawat.
The observance at the Khorirol Sanglen, Wangjing saw the gathering paying floral tributes to the photo of Hijam Irawat.
Sahitya Yok-khat Kanglup Tentha president Kartik Maiba, Khorirol Sandoklup Wangjing president Tongbram Babulal and Ningol Khut Manipur Wangjing president Khundongbam Gunamani Leima attended the programme.
A discussion on the life of Hijam Irawat was also held as part of the observance.
Associate Professor Sengoi Sanasam and Abujam Nongpok Ningthou attended the discussion as resource persons.
Later, a book titled "Karamba Lamdamno" written by Laishram Shyamo was released.
Dr Sanasam Nabadweep gave a review of the book.
A poetry recitation session was also organised with Moirangthem Rajendra as the moderator.
More than 30 writers/poets took part in the session.
