All Kwakta Youth Voluntary Organisation (AKYVO) established with the vision of guiding youths on a positive path and contributing to the development of a healthy society, observed its 4th foundation day on Sunday at Kwakta Bazar Community Hall.
The programme, organised under the initiative of AMUCO and UCOBID, was attended by AMUCO president Sorokhaibam Sanjoy; AMMPACO advisor YK Hayatur Rahman; Jamiat Ulama Bishnpur district, Sardar MV Islahuddin Qasmi; Kwakta Municipal Council Caretaker Chairperson Minarjan; UCOBID president W Basanta; MP AL president N Thambaleima; AKYVO president Meraimayum Salamat Ali; and several social workers as presidium members.
During the event, the father of a football player from Kwakta who was recently selected for the Indian Football team, media fraternity and intellectuals were honoured with a traditional Lengyan.
The organisation also distributed blankets to women from economically weaker sections, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and senior citizens of Kwakta.
Addressing the gathering, AMUCO president Sorokhaibam Sanjoy expressed concern over the prevailing situation in Manipur, stating the policies and actions of the Government of India often appear contradictory.
He said that since the ethnic violence erupted in the State on May 3, 2023, the situation of the State has drastically deteriorated, with not only the IDPs but the entire population suffering.
He stressed that the people of Manipur must work collectively to save the State, asserting that self-reliance is the only way forward.
Calling for a strong work culture, he urged citizens to study wisely, work harder, conduct business responsibly and utilise resources judiciously.
He also appealed to farmers to ensure proper production, adding that only selfsustainability and discipline can prevent outsiders from exerting control over us.
