International Day of Yoga celebrated widely

Imphal, June 21 2024: The 10th International Day of Yoga was observed widely across the State today under the theme "Yoga for Self and Society" to raise awareness about the multiple benefits of Yoga.

Conducting yoga sessions and sensitization of the masses on the importance of Yoga were the highlights of the observations.

The Department of Tourism, Government of Manipur, celebrated International Day of Yoga at Marjing Polo Complex, Heingang, Imphal East today.

It was attended by Dr Vineet Joshi, Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur; Devesh Deval, Commissioner (Tourism); W Ibohal, Director (Tourism); and Ngangkham Lilabati, Assistant Director, India Tourism, Imphal, as presidium members.

The celebration featured a series of yoga sessions, led by yoga instructor Khangenbam Jyoti Devi, aimed at promoting the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga.

Attendees participated in various yoga practices and workshops, reinforcing the day's message of individual and societal well-being.

CAU

The College of Agriculture (CoA), Central Agricultural University (CAU), Iroisemba, also celebrated the 10th International Day of Yoga at the ATIC, CoA, CAU, Iroisemba today.

Leading the initiative, Prof Indira Sarangthem, Dean of the College, along with her 200 faculty members, AICRP scientists, staff, and students conducted a yoga session for approximately an hour under the guidance of a yoga instructor.

Following a welcome address, the program commenced at 7:00 AM with prayer.

Participants then engaged in various Asanas (yoga postures) before concluding with a meditation session.

Throughout the session, the yoga instructor provided valuable insights into the benefits of each Asana for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

She also emphasized the importance of yoga in preventing and managing diseases, encouraging its integration into daily routines.

Besides, International Yoga Day was also celebrated at CAU Headquarters, Imphal and its constituent colleges.

It was attended by Vice Chancellor, Dr Anupam Mishra; Prof Indira Sarangthem; Dr L M Garnayak, Director of Research; Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension along with dedicated deans, officials, staff and students of the University.

RIMS

International Day of Yoga was also celebrated today at the Jubilee Hall of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.

The observance was attended by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Imphal; RK Mecolt Singh, Deputy Director (Admn), RIMS, Imphal; Prof Brogen Singh Akoijam, Dean of Academics, RIMS, Imphal and Prof Th Meera, Sub-Dean, RIMS Imphal.

The event also saw the enthusiastic participation of faculties, staff and students of RIMS, Imphal.

During the event, Yoga teachers briefed about the essence of Yogic exercises pn the health of individuals.

A long practice session with demonstration of asanas to acclimatize the body to Yogic exercises & Yoga was also held.

NHIDCL

The National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), RO-Imphal, celebrated International Day of Yoga Day at its office premises in Lamphelpat, Imphal West.

The event was honored by the presence of esteemed guests including Sadanand Pandey, General Manager (P); S Dholendro Singh, DGM (LA), and Khogendra Singh, Yoga Instructor.

During the event, Sadanand Pandey emphasized the profound significance of Yoga and its holistic benefits.

He also highlighted how Yoga transcends physical strength, body flexibility, balances the mind and reduces stress.

Participants engaged in various Yoga sessions guided by Khogendra Singh, focusing on postures (Asanas), breathing techniques (Pranayama), and meditation practices.

These sessions aimed not just at physical fitness but at fostering a deeper connection between mind, body, and spirit.

AIU

The campus of Asian International University at Ghari Awang Leikai, Imphal West, resonated with the spirit of health and wellness as it celebrated International Yoga Day on Friday.

The university organised the event in collaboration with local yoga experts and enthusiasts, marking a significant day dedicated to holistic well-being.

Under the bright morning skies, faculty members, students, and staff gathered at the university grounds to participate in various yoga sessions conducted by certified instructors.

The event commenced with an inaugural address highlighting the importance of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and spiritual health.

Participants eagerly engaged in yoga postures and breathing exercises, guided by experienced practitioners who led sessions catering to practitioners of all levels.

The event concluded with a collective meditation session, symbolizing unity and tranquillity among participants.

Sanjit Kumar Dubey, Registrar, Asian International University also attended the event.

CRPF

86 Battalion CRPF celebrated International Day of Yoga today by conducting a Yoga session at its unit headquarter in Lamphelpat, Imphal.

The Yoga session was organised under the supervision of Mohamand Yusuf, Commandant, 86 Battalion CRPF and under the aegis of IG Manipur & Nagaland Sector CRPF.

All the officers and personnel of the Battalion participated in the Yoga session.

At the event, Mohamand Yusuf apprised the jawans and all participants about the importance of Yoga and encouraged them to make it a part of everyday lives.

He also affirmed that CRPF will continue to render such good services for growth, development and prosperity of its personnel, their families and the society.

Moreover, International Day of Yoga was also observed at the headquarters of 143 Battalion, CRPF in Lamphelpat today.

Ravinder Sharma, Commandant, 143 Battalion CRPF, officers, jawans and family members participated in the event.

In line with the celebration of International Day of Yoga, 143 Battalion CRPF also conducted a week-long programme from June 15-20 at the Unit Headquarter and its coy locations to spread awareness about the significance of Yoga in modem lifestyle.

Similarly, International Day of Yoga was also celebrated at the Parade Ground of Group Centre CRPF in Langjing today.

It was attended by Manipur & Nagaland Sector CRPF, IGP, Vipul Kumar; CRPF Imphal Headquarter, DIG Range, PK Nayak; DC CRPF Imphal, DIG, Madan Kumar; and Manipur & Nagaland Sector CPRF, DIG, Duidang among others.

IIE

International Day of Yoga was also observed at Ibotombi Institute of Education (IIE), Kha Naorem Leikai, Canchipur on Friday.

Students from B.Ed and D.El.Ed courses and teaching & non teaching staff participated in the yoga session under guidance of Dr Cherish Salam, Assistant Professor, IIE; Thingom Sophia Devi and Khadangbam Mukta Singh.

FCI

Food Corporation of India (FCI), Regional Office, Manipur also celebrated International Day of Yoga on Friday with the enthusiastic participation of FCI Regional Office staff.

Payers were recited before and after the programme.

The celebration was initiated by K Sathya Kumar, Deputy General Manager, FCI Regional Office Manipur addressing the gathering about yoga and benefits of practicing Yoga to individuals in everyday life.

Y Memtombi, Manager (Hindi), FCI Regional Office Manipur led the Yoga session and directed the participants with demonstration of Asanas.

MPTC

International Day of Yoga was also celebrated today at Manipur Police Training College (MPTC), Pangei.

The event was attended by Kabib K, Director, MPTC, Pangei; S Gautam Singh, Assistant Director, MPTC; A Ghanashyam Sharma, Assistant Director, MPTC; Md Abdul Kalam, Assistant Director, MPTC; A Devananda Singh, Additional SP and other officers and staff of MPTC.

About 100 personnel of MPTC took part in the event.
