Imphal, June 21 2013 :
Demanding befitting action against one Md Sanayaima, accused of raping an elderly woman from K Somrei village, Senapati district on June 17, the JAC formed in connection with the incident has threatened to launch intense agitation if justice is denied to the victim.
Speaking to media persons at a Dewlahlane residence today, JAC convenor Wonrei Ningshen strongly condemned Sanayaima's repulsive act against the 68-year old woman, who had reportedly gone to Antolok village to collect food-remnants for her piggery farm.
Antolok is located at about 2 kilometres from the victim's native village - K Somrei.
The crime was committed by Md Sanayaima (30) at a secluded location near Mayai Keithel at around 2 pm.
Along with demanding the most stringent punishment against the accused person, the JAC convenor insisted that relevant procedures be completed within three months.
She also accused Yairipok police, under whose jurisdiction the incident occurred, of inordinate delay in conducting medical test of the victim.
Wonrei also contended that only due to intense pressure by the JAC the culprit was rounded up by the police on June 18 and an FIR registered at Yairipok police the next day.
