Assam Rifles marks 79th Independence Day with grand band display and cultural show at Khongjom

Imphal, August 17 2025: In a stirring tribute to India's 79th Independence Day, Assam Rifles, under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South), hosted a vibrant Band Display and Cultural Programme at the historic Khongjom War Memorial on 15 August 2025 .

According to a release issued by the IGAR (South), the event celebrated the indomitable spirit of freedom and honoured the legacy of the bravehearts who laid down their lives for the nation, including those remembered during Operation Sindoor.

The celebration commenced with a majestic performance by the Assam Rifles Pipe Band, whose martial tunes reverberated across the memorial grounds, invoking pride and solemn remembrance.

This was followed by a captivating Khukri Dance, showcasing the martial traditions of the region with rhythmic precision and spirited energy.

The Assam Rifles Jazz Band added a soulful dimension to the evening with melodious patriotic renditions that seamlessly blended tradition with contemporary harmony.

Adding youthful vibrancy to the occasion, students from Assam Rifles Public School, Kakching, delivered enthusiastic cultural performances that reflected the patriotic zeal of the younger generation.

Their spirited dances and songs were met with resounding applause from the audience.

The event witnessed the presence of over 250 individuals, including officials, troops, families, and prominent members of civil society from Kakching and Thoubal districts.

Their enthusiastic participation underscored the enduring bond between Assam Rifles and the local communities, reinforcing the Force's role as the "Sentinels of the North East".

As the sun dipped behind the hills of Khongjom, the fusion of martial music, cultural heritage, and patriotic pride created an atmosphere of unity and inspiration.

The celebration not only showcased the discipline and dedication of Assam Rifles but also reaffirmed its commitment to peace, harmony, and cultural integration in the region.
