MPTC trainers protest, for removal of Director

Imphal, March 16 2016: Trainers and instructors of Manipur Police Training College, Pangei today protested manhandling of the staff of the college by trainee ASIs and SIs during their stir yesterday.

They also demanded removal of the Director of the college alleging that he remained silent during yesterday's ugly incident.

The trainers and instructors locked the main entrance gate of the college to stage their protest.

Condemning the conduct of the trainee ASIs and SIs, the trainers and instructors said that yesterday's incident could have been averted if the Director did the needful on time.

They also said that the trainees must tender an apology regarding yesterday's incident in the presence of the media.

On the other hand, they also asked the trainees to clarify on their allegation money beiong withdrawn to organise passing out parade by the Director and some staff of the college.

They said that the trainees must identify the staff who were involved in the mess before the media.

The trainees and instructors also expressed strong dissatisfaction to the Director for not uttering even a single word when the trainees assaulted the staff of the centre.

They alleged that a housie draw was organised at the centre to collect fund to purchase a grass cutting machine some time back.

However, no purchase has been made till date.

They also alleged that the Director has received all the contract works of the centre and he uses his staff as labourers.

The trainers and instructors also accused the Director of deducting some percent of the mess fees for his personal use.

Although, the trainees must be controlled by the staff of the college, the Director issues 'out-pass' to many trainees regularly.

They urged the DGP to look into these matters seriously and transfer the incumbent Director from the Centre by March 21 .

The trainers and instructors also said that they have decided to cease work until the demand is fulfilled.

Meanwhile, a statement issued tonight by Police Department PRO RK Tutusana said that a meeting was held between the teaching/training staff of MPTC with officer trainees (SIs and ASIs) in the presence of IGP (in-charge Training) L Kailun in connection with the 'misbehaviour' of trainees today.

After due deliberations on the issues/problems which led to yesterday's incident, five representatives from the trainees tendered unconditional apology to the teaching staff.

As such, the matter was resolved amicably and normal functioning of the training college resumed immediately thereafter, the statement claimed.
