PSO hosts 18th annual Iftar Party at Lilong
HBCC organises Grand Iftar at Heirok

The Pangal Students' Organisation (PSO), Manipur, continued its annual tradition of fostering communal harmony by hosting its 18th Iftar Party at Lilong Higher Secondary School Madrassa.
The event was attended by Principal of Lilong Higher Secondary School Madrassa Wangkhem Rameshor Singh, AMUCO president S Sanjoy, PSO Manipur president Farid Bogimayum, MSF president Hijam Roshan, AMMPACO president Meraimayum Salamar Ali, and chairman-cum-principal of Shining Star English School, Keirao Makting, Md Naheed Alam, as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, AMUCO president S Sanjoy highlighted the longstanding bond between the Meitei and Meitei Pangal communities, stating that their relationship is inseparable.
He noted that since the time when the Meitei king allotted land and arranged marriages between Meitei women and Pangals, the two communities have coexisted in harmony.
Sanjoy further said that the Meitei Pangal community has played a significant role in many critical wars and movements of the State.
Describing the community as unique, he stated that Meitei Pangals follow the religion of their fathers while adopting the language, attire and food habits of their mothers, which reflects a rich and distinctive heritage.
He urged all communities to collectively oppose divisive forces and work towards restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur.
PSO Manipur president Farid Bogimayum stated that since its inception in 2008, the organisation has been hosting the annual Iftar Party as a platform to share meals and strengthen bonds among different communities.
He said the programme aims to set aside hatred, promote positive thinking and encourage peaceful coexistence.
Bogimayum appealed to the people to leave aside misunderstandings and live in harmony for a progressive Manipur.
Meanwhile, the Heirok Block Congress Committee (HBCC) also organised a grand Iftar Party at Shikhong Muslim Community Hall under Heirok Assembly Constituency as part of its annual observance.
The programme was attended by former Minister Moirangthem Okendro along with members of the Heirok Block Congress Committee and local residents.
