Five Longmai women leaders felicitated

The Coordination Committee Longmai Area organised a special reception programme at NG Hall, Longmai Bazar, to honour the five women leaders from the Longmai area following their release after being arrested on September 11 .
According to the organisers, the five women were arrested by a CRPF Cobra team from Longmai Bazar, Noney District Headquarters, at around 10:30 am in connection with their participation in a democratic agitation at Longmai Bazar area along NH-37.The agitation was launched under the directive of the United Naga Council (UNC) and the Joint Tribe Council Manipur (JTCM), demanding justice for six church leaders and civilians from Konsakhul Village.
The five women were subsequently released after completion of the legal procedures.
The Coordination Committee and members of the public expressed gratitude to Dipu Gangmei, MLA of 54-Nungba Assembly Constituency and Chairman of the Hill Area Committee, Government of Manipur, as well as various civil society organisation leaders from the Rongmei, Zeliangrong-Inpui, Naga and Meitei communities, for extending moral and physical support during the episode.
The organisers said the Longmai area and the Zeliangrong-Inpui community would remain grateful for the support extended to the women leaders.
The reception was attended by hundreds of women and men leaders from the Longmai area and spoke on the occasion.
The participants reaffirmed to remain united and continue their democratic efforts until justice is delivered.
