Imphal, September 13 2025:
The Prime Minister's visit of a few hours to Manipur was not aimed at bringing peace.
What people had hoped from him were not delivered, MP Dr Bimol Akoijam said today.
He was addressing media persons at the official residence of former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi at Babupara when he made the statements.
While the Prime Minister had ignored Manipur for over 2 years, the people here had high hopes when he visited the State today, Bimol said.
While people had hoped that he would address the issues facing the State and bring peace, his visit seemed to have focused solely on inauguration and laying of foundation stones for projects, Bimol said.
The two communities are divided, there is no free movement on the Highway and people are still languishing in relief camps.
The BJP is allowing things it would never allow in other States to happen in Manipur, he said.
-The Prime Minister, like he has been in the past, seems to be intentionally ignoring the conflict situation.
In his address, he did not speak a word about the conflict in Manipur, the deaths and destruction the State has suffered, Bimol said.
The PM didn't mention about the conflict and any concrete steps to restore peace.
The State is reeling under an economic crisis, but he didn't announce any economic packages.
His visit was an insult to the people of Manipur, Bimol added.
