State level workshop on World Population Day held at YK College

As part of the World Population Day 2025 observance, a state-level workshop on the theme "Benefits of Demographic Dividend Amidst High Population" was held today at YK College, Wanjing in Thoubal district.
The event was jointly organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell and the Seminar Committee of YK College, under the aegis of Directorate of University and Higher Education, Government of Manipur.
The event was attended by Thoubal College Principal Professor, A Nabachandra as chief guest, YK College Principal Professor Kh Jugindro as functional president and HOD of Physics Department, YK College, O Binoykumar as guest of honour.
The programme featured two technical sessions.
In the first session, Professor N Sharat from the Department of Statistics, DM University, delivered a presentation on the "Benefits of Demographic Dividend Amidst High Population Growth in India".
In the second session, Dr M Manimohon, Retd Research Officer at the Ministry of Home Affairs, GOI, spoke in depth on the "Demographic Profiles of Manipur State".
Delivering the keynote address, N Tejendro, HOD of the Economics Dept, YK College stated the World Population Day, 2025 highlighted the importance of youth engagement in innovation and social development.
He emphasized that the working-age population (15-64 years) must be equipped with better health care, education, skill development and employment opportunities to drive economic growth and development.
He further stressed the importance of collective participation from academic institutions, government bodies, NGOs and local businesses in supporting the youth and formulating inclusive policies to harness the demographic dividend.
