Kumbi bodies demand renovation of vital roads by May 16

Bishnupur, May 10 2025: The Kumbi Kendra Progressive Farmer Association (KKPFA) has appealed for swift repair of the vital roadways within Kumbi AC by May 16, failing which the meira paibi, local clubs, VLFs and public are prepared to launch a series of intense agitation.

S Dinesh, president, KKPFA made the demand for the renovation of the roads from Kumbi Bazar to Wangoo, Kumbi Bazar to Nongmaikhong, Kumbi Bazar to Ithai and other important lifelines within the constituency during a joint road inspection conducted at Wangoo Terakhong.

Yaipha Thousil VLF Wangoo Terakhong, Kumbi to Wangoo Light and Medium Motor Transport Association, Kumbi To Imphal Winger Association, All Kumbi E-Rickshaw Association and others were part of the inspection.

According to S Dinesh, these roadways have remained neglected for a long time.

As the poor condition of the roads is posing challenges to students and patients commuting along the roads, he called for their renovation by May 16 .

Meanwhile, Th Haribati, secretary, Yaipha Thousil VLF Wangoo Terakhong claimed that quality control measures were not implemented in the construction of Kumbi to Wangoo road.

As a result, the road stretch, which is also a State highway, is in a deplorable condition, she maintained.

It is worth noting that this road connects Kumbi with Kakching and Churachandpur.

If steps are not taken up to renovate the vital roadways of Kumbi AC by May 16, protests including road blockades might be launched, said Th Haribati.
