Workshop on "Foster care & after care services for children" held

The Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur organised a State Level Workshop on "Foster Care& After Care Services for Children in Manipur" at Sangai Hall, Imphal Hotel.
Speaking on the occasion, Anna Arambam, Director, Social Welfare, emphasized the importance of maintaining detailed records of all children residing in Child Care Institutions (CCIs) to ensure proper care, monitor progress, and facilitate rehabilitation or adoption processes.
"A total of 1953 children are presently residing in CCIs across the State.
Out of which, details of only 8 children have been uploaded in the Mission Vatsalya portal", said the Director while adding that the Department has not been able to obtain detailed records of the other children.
The Director also elaborated on the need to promote non-institutional care support for internally displaced children and give awareness to prospective adoptive families about the children residing in CCIs .
During the workshop, Gyanlakshmi Thongam, Programme Manager of State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) delivered a lecture on the topic, "Model Foster Care Guidelines 2015" and Sandhyarani Mangsatabam, Programme Officer, State Child Protection Society spoke on "Need for identification of beneficiaries for after care" .
The workshop moderated by Konsam Saroja, Deputy Director (Child Protection), Social Welfare Department was attended by officials of SARA, District Child Protection Officers, Protection Officers (NIC), Child Welfare Committee members, Juvenile Justice Board members, chief functionary of all NGO run CCIs, and Superintendent/Coordinator cum Counsellor/Manager cum Coordinator of all Government CCIs .
