Imphal, October 04 2025: Khurkhul Nupi Chaokhat Lup has appealed to all the political parties to refrain from politicizing the eviction drive carried out at Moibung Khunou in Sekmai Assembly Constituency.

Addressing a press conference today at Panchayat Ghar Community Hall in Khurkhul Makha Leikai, Khurkhul Nupi Chaokhat Lup member Ningthoujam Sushila informed that the eviction was carried out in Moibung Khunou on September 29, following a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner Imphal West on September 19 .

"It is unfortunate that some people are trying to politicize the eviction for political gains without understanding the history of the area properly", she added.

She asserted that people of Khurkhul have already made it clear that the local MLA has no involvement whatsoever with the eviction and the whole process was carried out by relevant authorities/departments.

In regard to the recent inspection carried out by a MPCC team led by its president Keisham Meghachandra, Sushila said, "We welcome the inspection carried out by the MPCC team.

However, political parties should consider the tense situation in the area and should not attempt to politicize the issue" .

Sushila further stated that if any individual/ political parties wish to know more about the eviction, they should contact the DC Imphal East and relevant departments before making any claims or allegations which can create tension, disrupt harmony in the area.
