Lamp lighting & oath taking ceremony held

The Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony 2025 for the newly inducted BSc Nursing students (2024-2025 batch) of the College of Nursing, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, was held today at Jubilee Hall, RIMS, with great enthusiasm and solemnity.
The ceremony was graced by dignitaries, including Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Imphal; Prof A Debjani Devi, Principal, College of Nursing, RIMS; Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, Imphal; T Shantikumar Singh, Controller of Examinations, Manipur University; Prof Laishram Rajesh Singh, Dean (Academics), RIMS, Imphal; and Ningombam Ibemhal, Chief Nursing Officer, RIMS, Imphal.
As per a release issued by RIMS, the lamp lighting ceremony, a symbolic gesture marking the initiation of nursing students into the noble profession of nursing, was conducted with deep reverence.
The students also took the Florence Nightingale Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to uphold the highest standards of ethics and compassion in nursing care.
Addressing the gathering, Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma extended heartfelt congratulations to the new batch and their proud parents on this special occasion.
He emphasized that the lamp lighting ceremony is not just a tradition, but a symbol of commitment to compassion and care.
"As future nurses, you are the backbone of healthcareblending science with empathy, service, and resilience.
May your journey be guided by dedication, lifelong learning, and the power to heal with both heart and hands", said Prof G Sunil Kumar.
The event was attended by Deputy Director (Admn), RIMS, Imphal, HODs, faculty members, Chief Nursing Officers, nursing officials, students, parents, and staff of RIMS, Imphal.
