DoNER releases over Rs 6 Cr for six projects

The Ministry of DoNER released a total of Rs 6,67,55,000 for six different projects for Manipur in August, a statement issued by the DIPR has informed.
The six projects include--
1) Construction of a Modern Agro Market Complex at Kyamgei village, Imphal East district;
2) Infrastructure Development of Heritage Complex, Rajbari, Shillong;
3) Integrated farming system model demonstration for sustained economic and livelihood;
4) Construction of Multi-Facility Centre at IGNTU-RCM, Kangpokpi district;
5) Construction of Tangkhul headman's guest house cum administrative building at Ukhrul district; and
6) Construction of cultural hall cum multi-purpose building for Senapati District Village Chief Association at Senapati District Headquarters.
Rs 1,15,05,000 was released for the construction of a Modem Agro Market Complex at Kyamgei village, Imphal East district.
Rs 2,00,00,000 was released for Infrastructure Development of Heritage Complex, Rajbari, Shillong.
Rs 37,50,000 was released for Integrated farming system model demonstration for sustained economic and Livelihood.
Rs 1,47,00,000 was released for construction of a Multi-Facility Centre at IGNTU-RCM, Kangpokpi district.
Rs 7,600,000 was released for construction of Tangkhul Headman's Guest House cum Administrative Building at Ukhrul district.
Rs 92,00,000 was released for construction of a Cultural hall cum multi-purpose building for Senapati District Village Chief Association at Senapati DHQs.
While the funds mentioned above were released in August, the North East Council (NEC) has approved new projects and sanctioned funds of Rs 51.178 lakh for Skill Training in AVGC and IT-ITES Sectors and Rs 233 lakh as second instalment for setting up Scientific Smoked Meat Production Units across North East States including Manipur.
The gap funding of Rs 51.178 lakh for the residential costs associated with Skill Training in the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) and Information Technology and Information Technology Enabled Services (IT-ITES) was approved on August 8, and it will be implemented by the North Eastern Region Community Resources Management Society (NERCORMS), Shillong.
This initiative aims to enhance employability, drive economic growth, address skill gaps, foster entrepreneurship, and ensure sustainable livelihoods by equipping the youth of the NER with industry-relevant skills such as animation, VFX, game design, and graphic storytelling.
The project plans to train and certify approximately 400 youth from the North East, with specific distribution across States including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.
The project is partly supported by MSDE under PMKVY 4.0 guidelines, with NEC providing crucial gap funding for boarding and lodging.
Scientific Smoked Meat Production Units
The second instalment of Rs 233 lakh was released on August 8 for establishment of Scientific Smoked Meat production units in North East India.
The project was originally sanctioned at Rs 484.67 lakh.
This project is designed to deploy 17 physical scientific smoke houses across five NE States including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Nagaland.
The primary objectives include introducing and standardizing scientific and hygienic meat smoking practices to reduce the carcinogen and mutagen load in commercially produced smoked meats.
Annually, these units are expected to produce about 867 MT of dried pork, create 34 direct employment opportunities, and indirectly benefit 1,921 persons.
A significant outcome of the project will be the reduction of carcinogens in meat products across NER, thereby lowering instances of Nasopharyngeal and Digestive Cancers and promoting healthier outcomes for consumers in the States.
Meanwhile, the upgradation of Moirang Sendra Road upto Sendra Hillock and the Road from Moirang Sendra Road to Omba Hillock and Moirang Khunou to Thanga Keibul (length 4.30 Km) has been completed under NESIDS (Roads).
The project with a cost of Rs 20.32 crore will benefit 7 villages and a population of 9,700, said the NEC, DoNER.
This road project is critically important for promoting tourism, anticipating an increase in domestic and foreign tourists from 2,00,000 to 3,00,000 per year.
It was aimed at improving road networks, boost infrastructure for accessibility, attract more tourists, and stimulate economic activities, particularly creating job opportunities in the agrarian sector.
Funds released to NEC Regional/other agencies
Funds amounting to Rs 12,18,78,000 have been released to the NEC Regional and other agencies for different projects in the North East Region including Manipur.
The funds include--
1) Rs 2,33,00,000 for establishment of Scientific Smoked Meat Productions units in North East India
2) Rs 2,93,37,000 for setting up of Scientific Pig Breeding Units in the North East India, Phase-III
3) Rs 1,24,75,000 for establishment of Multi Agriculture Project on Promotion of Fishery and Piggery in Manipur & Meghalaya
4) Rs 8,55,000 for NEC Merit Scholarship
5) Rs 2,07,25,000 for constitution of IIE as Nodal institute
6) Rs 54,18,000 for establishment of Piggery value chain in Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishnupur districts of Manipur
7) Rs 1,08,36,000 for Multi agriculture allied by NERCRMS, in Manipur & Nagaland
8) Rs 1,10,95,000 for Multi-Agriculture Project on promotion in piggery in Manipur & Nagaland
9) Rs 50,42,000 for establishment of Avocado Orchard in North East Region
10) Rs 8,00,000 for 2-Day National Conference on Empowering Voice in North East India; A Social Dialogue on Ethical Journalism for a Vibrant Future in the Region
11) Rs 10,00,000 for Workshop on Financial Inclusion Mizoram (Phase-II)
12) Rs 9,95,000 for Government Achievement Expo 2025 .
