Imphal, July 03 2025: A team of Sekmai police arrested two individuals including a woman yesterday morning after discovering 22 grams of heroin powder in their possession.

The arrested individuals have been identified as HR Mathanmi (48), s/o HR Thatwon of Tanrui Village, Ukhrul district and S Mery (47), w/o P Roland of Khongdei Ngawar in Senapati district.

According to reliable sources, Sekmai Police Station received information from Kanglatongbi Naka Post about a motorbike with Manipur registration number meeting an accident at Kanglatongbi Bazar following which a police team, including female officers rushed to the location.

When the police reached the scene, they found HR Mathanmi and S Mery, the driver and pillion rider respectively.

As police prepared to take them for a medical checkup, a polythene packet fell from S Mery's possession.

Two soap caps containing 11 gram of heroin each were found inside the packet when checked in the presence of witnesses there, the sources added.

They were arrested by observing necessary formalities at around 9 am.

The police also seized the motorbike.

Sources stated that the Sekmai Police Station team produced the arrested persons before the Court and obtained police custody till July 7 for investigation.
