Imphal, May 03 2026:
Pointing out the abject failure of the Government to resolve the three-year-old Manipur crisis, CLP leader K Meghachandra has called for resignation of all the sitting MLAs to pave way for fresh elections so that people can elect a new Government.
Speaking at a press meet organised by INDIA Bloc Manipur at Manipur Press Club here today, K Meghachandra who is also a member of INDIA Bloc Manipur said that the Government has failed to bring a solution to the widespread violence which erupted on May 3, 2023 .
During the last three years, the Government has been unable to bring anything which can restore peace or win people's faith, he said.
Even though INDIA Bloc has been working on different platforms to bring peace in Manipur during the last three years, the BJP Government has been paying no attention, he said.
Many delegates of INDIA Bloc including MPs came to Manipur and put up several demands but the BJP Government did not listen, Meghachandra said.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi came to Manipur three times, talked with members of all communities and worked sincerely to bring peace in Manipur but neither the Centre nor the State Government gave any attention, he lamented.
It is a matter of grave concern that even today the Government is not taking the three-year-old crisis seriously enough, the CLP leader said.
The incumbent Government has failed to win people's confidence, deliver justice, restore peace or contain the three-year-old crisis.
In such circumstances, the MLAs are not serving any purpose, he said.
All sections of people have been enduring extreme misery for too long.
It's time for all the MLAs to step down, he added.
