RIMS launches Swachhta Pakhawada 2026

Imphal, April 01 2026:
The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal has commenced a fortnight-long observance of Swachhta Pakhawada (Cleanliness Fortnight) from April 1 to 15, 2026 .
This initiative, in accordance with directives from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, aims to promote cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental sustainability across the institute's campus, ensuring a healthy atmosphere for everyone.
The campaign was formally inaugurated by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS, who administered the Swachhata pledge in front of the A-Block campus.
The ceremony saw participation from Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital, senior officials, faculty members, nursing personnel, and staff from the Community Resource and Environmental Development (CRED) unit and Manipur Security Services (MSS) .
At the launch, awareness posters and banners were prominently displayed across the campus to highlight the importance of sanitation.
Concurrently, staff from CRED conducted intensive cleaning drives in critical areas, including the Casualty Block, the Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU), and the Bum Unit premises.
These efforts involved thorough decluttering, sanitizing of wards and equipment, and proper waste disposal to maintain a safer healthcare environment.
Extending the scope beyond the institutional premises, MSS conducted a road sanitation drive covering the stretch from Gate No 2 to the BSNL Office via the main gate.
This activity underscored the institute's commitment to fostering cleanliness and environmental responsibility both within the campus and in the surrounding areas.
