Missing weapons case Two accused IRB personnel set Court date today

Two Riflemen of 1st Indian Reserved Battalion accused of misplacing service weapons issued to them would be produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West tomorrow.
They were arrested in connection with the missing of two service weapons (Insas Rifles) from their post of Kangla Fort (Northern Gate) on October 15 at around 6.30 pm under Imphal Police Station.
The two alleged accused IRB Personnel are identified as Riflemen number 1194307 Huirem Ingoba 44 s/o H Pheijao of Naharup Pangong and Rifleman 1194511 Soraisham Surchand 45 s/o S Kulla of Yairipok Kekru Mayai Leikai.
They were arrested on October 15 by Imphal police station.
The two accused are presently lodged in Imphal Police Station regarding the case taken up by Imphal Police Station under FIR number 310 ( 10) 2016 under section 403/409/34 IPC .
Both the alleged accused have been already produced before the Court of Alex Muivah, Judicial Magistrate First Class, Imphal West I on two occasions.
On the first day of their appearance before the Court, they were remanded to police custody till October 21 and on the second occasion, they were further remanded to police custody for five more days till October 25 .
According to the Court order of JMIC Imphal West I issued on October 21, the learned APP submitted that on October 15 at around 8.25 pm, N Manglemba, MPS Commandant 1st IRB and security in-charge RHQ Kangla lodged a complaint with the OC of Imphal Police Station stating that two service weapons (Insas rifles) bearing number 18323728 butt number 127 with magazine loaded with 20 rounds issued to Riflemen Laishram Rameshor and Insas Rifle bearing number 18323712 butt number 123 with magazine loaded with 20 rounds issued to Huirem Ingoba were found missing during regular checking of guards deployed at the northern gate of Kangla Fort.
On further enquiry, Riflemen Laishram Rameshor was found taking out past and he was engaged in the rehearsal done in connection with the Manipur Police Raising day, being a member of a band contingent of the unit.
The Insas rifle issued to Rameshor was used by Rifleman Soraisham Surchand and as stated by the guard commander on inquiry, the two service weapons were found untraceable.
However, the two alleged accused failed to give a satisfactory reply regarding the lost of the two rifles along with loaded magazines and ammunition.
On further enquiry, one wireless set bearing number 08810A0877 was also found missing.
The Court order further mentioned that during the preliminary interrogation, two alleged accused persons were found concealing some facts and they were not giving any satisfactory explanation as to how their service weapons went missing.
On being enquired by the Court, the alleged accused persons refused to give any explanation and remained silent.
The Court enquired to the Investigation officer of the case whether the rumour that the 1st IRB personnel stationed at the Northern Kangla gate were indulging in supplying heroin number (4) to the customers fraudulently was true or not.
The IO while acknowledging about the rumour, replied back that the rumour was yet to be verified.
Later the Court directed the IO to enquire into the rumour and submit a report before the Court.
