Imphal, January 13 2013 :
The number of open as well as secret victims of NSCN-IM in Manipur has increased and it is bound to increase in future too if we do not wipe out all the rank and file cadres of NSCN (IM) from the state.
Only then, peace could prevail in Manipur, Sagolsem Ningol Irungbam Ongbi Madhumala, wife of Irungbam Irabanta of Nongdam, whose whereabouts has not been known after allegedly being abducted by the Naga underground outfit, has observed.
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Madhumala said, "Irabanta is a physically challenged sub-contractor, who used to feed all the family members from his little earnings.
However, since some NSCN-IM cadres abducted him on May 27, 2012 last, the State government as well as the NSCN-IM authorities left all the family members in bewilderment with no knowledge of whether he has been killed or still alive.
Because of this confusion, the family members have also not been able to perform the last rites till date" .
"How long can I lie to 8-year old son? I don't want any compensation.
I just want confirmation about his condition either from the side of the state government or NSCN-IM," she added.
Madhubala further said that family members have no objection to NSCN-IM punishing her husband if they can prove his faults and the state government too can arrest him if he had worked or associated with any anti-social element.
However, they should make us know about the crime if he had committed against anyone or what is happening to him now.
Recalling her last conversation with her husband, Madhubala informed just before his mobile phone got switched off, her husband mentioned the name of NSCN-IM cadre, Francis Kasu Tangkhul with whom he was talking with.
After three days of serving a ransom demand of Rs 3 lakh for securing the release of Irabanta, Modhubala recalled that they (NSCN-IM cadres) again rang up to inform not to arrange the money.
"All possible efforts have been made to trace my husband from my side, but in vain.
However, it has found out that the white Gypsy bearing No MN-01 K 2171 in which my husband had gone is in NSCN-IM's custody at Hebron camp", she claimed.
