Imphal, May 12:
While pointing out that the Government of Manipur has not yet released 10 percent State share of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) for the year 2007-08, Tamenglong Public Forum has explained that is the reason why payment of wages for 10-20 days of work to the job card holders in Tamenglong district is still due even though the allotted 100 days work have already been completed within March 31, 2008 .
As a result effect, many poor job card holders who have got their children to be admitted to schools are hard pressed financially over and above the fact that many of the them being families living under poverty line have been searching for their daily bread, TPF president NK Hubibou and its secretary David Kamei said in a joint statement.
The Forum further pointed out that although Tamenglong district was included under the work programme of the Backward Region Guarantee Fund (BRGF) which was launched last year and the necessary fund sanctioned/released by the Government of India, not a single work is being implemented in the district so far.
