Awareness programme on child Protection held at Moirang

A one-day awareness programme on 'Child Protection' was organised today at Loktak Christian Model High School, Moirang.
The programme was conducted by the District Child Protection Unit, Bishnupur, Social Welfare Department, in collaboration with ZEO Bishnupur, under the supervision of the District Administration, Bishnupur.
Addressing the students, Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam, emphasised the importance of student life as a phase dedicated to setting goals and working towards achieving them, while also enjoying a stage free of family and societal responsibilities.
The DC encouraged the students to cultivate good friendships, support one another, and maintain a positive outlook on life.
She highlighted the importance of overall development, stressing that peers should not be discouraged and that a healthy circle of friends is vital in shaping quality lives and building a better society.
Pooja Elangbam further reminded the students that mistakes are a natural part of life and should not be magnified.
"No mistake is big enough to define your life.
Whenever you face an unfavourable situation, seek help from teachers or parents.
Learn from mistakes, don't repeat them" she said.
She also motivated the students to study diligently, maintain a healthy body and mind, actively participate in sports and extracurricular activities, and cherish their school years, which are the foundation for future growth.
Highlighting the relevance of social media in today's world, the DC cautioned against its excessive use.
She advised that social media engagement should always be supervised, reminding students that not everything seen online is true and one should avoid becoming overly dependent on it.
As part of the programme, Dr Leishangthem Jeebit Singh, DSP Cyber Crime, Manipur Police, spoke on cybercrime-related issues, while Aribam Gulson Sharma, Clinical Psychologist, DMHP Bishnupur, delivered a session on mental health.
District Child Protection Officer, Bishnupur, Indrani Chongtham, along with the teachers of the school, also attended the programme.
