CBC organises outreach programme on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in Senapati

Senapati, July 29 2026: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Field Office, Senapati, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, organised a one-day Special Outreach Programme (SOP) on 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan' at Lao Radiant Higher Secondary School, Senapati, on Wednesday.

The programme was organised on the theme 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan-Viksit Bharat Ki Pehchaan' (A Drug-Free India is the Identity of a Developed Nation), with the objective of creating awareness among students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and the need to build a drug-free society.

Principal Kh Silas attended the programme as chief guest, while Headmaster CT Jonathan and KS Mavei attended as guest of honour and resource person respectively.

Zhouveine served as moderator, while lecturers Bishorjit, Hrakhu and Vismas attended as special guests.

A Sankhil George, Field Publicity Assistant, CBC, Field Office Senapati, delivered the welcome address and briefed the gathering on the activities of CBC and the objectives behind organising the Special Outreach Programme on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Kh Silas highlighted the harmful effects of drug abuse and emphasised the role of parents, guardians, teachers and government agencies in combating the menace.

Urging students to equip themselves with adequate knowledge about drugs and stay away from substance abuse, he said, "Life is precious; let not drugs ruin our lives" .

He appreciated the initiative to organise an awareness programme for the younger generation, describing them as the future pillars of the district, State and nation.

Guest of honour CT Jonathan also spoke on the harmful effects and misuse of drugs, particularly among youths.

He urged students to contribute towards making India drug-free and stressed the importance of maintaining good health, advising them to refrain from tobacco products and other addictive substances.

Resource person K S Mavei said the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan was launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on August 15, 2020, to combat substance abuse.

The campaign focuses on community outreach, public awareness and rehabilitation of individuals affected by drug dependence.

He urged the participants to value their lives and stay away from drugs, while calling upon them to join the collective fight against substance abuse for the well-being of themselves, their families and communities.

Mavei also appealed to the participants to contribute towards peace, development and prosperity by maintaining physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

As part of the programme, participants took the pledge to support the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

An on-the-spot quiz competition was also organised, following which prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners.
