SAHS holds health talk on "National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme"

Imphal, May 29 2026: The Department of Community Medicine, Shija Academy of Health Sciences (SAHS), Langol, conducted a health talk session on "National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP)" at Singjamei Chingamakha High School on May 27 .

The programme, held in collaboration with the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Singjamei, was attended by District TB Officer (DTO), Imphal West, Medical Officer In-charge & staff of UPHC, Singjamei.

The session was supported by faculties, senior residents, tutors, health educator, medical social worker, and public health nurse from the Department of Community Medicine, SAHS .

During the health talk, information was provided regarding the causes, modes of transmission, signs and symptoms, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of tuberculosis.

The importance of early diagnosis, timely treatment, treatment adherence, and prevention of stigma associated with TB was highlighted.

The speakers also discussed various services provided under the NTEP, including free diagnostic and treatment services, nutritional support under Nikshay Poshan Yojana, contact screening, and community participation in TB elimination activities.

The session was followed by an interaction with the faculties and staff of the department to address the queries of the students and encourage active participation in disseminating TB awareness messages among their family members and the community.
