Schools, colleges across districts celebrate National Sports Day

Kakching/Bishnupur, August 28 2026: The National Sports Day - 2026, under the theme "Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat" was observed across schools in Kakching district to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand.

The National Sports Day is being observed as a three-day Nationwide campaign from August 28 to 30.The day being celebrated at PR English School, PM SHRI Kakching Khunou High School, Hawairou Primary School, Pallel Junior High School, Elangkhanpokpi Junior High School, Keirak Upper Primary School, Kakching Khunou Makha High School, Martin Grammar School, Grace Reach Academy, Hiyanglam, Grace Cottage Cultural & Educational Development Foundation, Pallel High School, Irengband Upper Primary School and Sugnu Higher Secondary School, among others.

"Khelo India Samvaad-Khel Ki Baat, PM Modi Ke Saath" was also organised at Moirang College yesterday.

My Bharat Bishnupur District and NSS Cell Moirang College organised the event.

Moirang College Vice Principal L Jiten Singh, Academic Officer S Deven, Dean of Students Science Y Joy Singh, Chairperson Moirang Municipal Council M Romibala Devi, Upa Adakshya Bishnupur N Dinesh, My Bharat Accounts Officer Ak Meghajit, and officials of Bishnupur District Canoeing and Kayaking attended the event.

Sports personalities including boxer Bidya Devi Loitongbam, football players K Tamphasana and Ng Olivia were feted.

Celebrating National Sports Day, District Police Bishnupur also launched a programme at SAI STC Utlou Complex today.

A football match was played between Bishnupur District Police and Bishnupur Commando teams.

SP Bishnupur Ksh Ravikumar, Tourism Director Kh Daina, Badminton Association of India Joint Secretary N Shyamkumar, and SAI STC Utlou Centre in Charge L Ringky attended the event.
