Interaction programme on "Climate Change Reporting in Manipur" held

Imphal, August 28 2025: Media Resource Centre, Manipur organised the second joint interaction programme with the awardee of 6th Media Fellowship Programme (2025-26) on the topic, "Climate Change Reporting in Manipur" at the conference hall of Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, Government of Manipur in Porompat today.

The programme was conducted in collaboration with the State Climate Change Cell, Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, Manipur.

The programme was graced by Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, Director, Dr T Brajakumar Singh; Sobhapati Samom, Coordinator, Media Resource Centre; expert members of Media Resource Centre; recipients of 6th State Level Media Fellowship Programme; and officials of the Directorate.

The event began with a welcome address by Sobhapati Samom, Coordinator, Media Resource Centre, followed by a presentation on the topic "Impact of Climate Change on Water" by Dr Binota Thokchom, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Sciences, Dhanamanjuri University.

The interaction programme provided an opportunity to learn and share good practices on climate change issues such as climate science, effective political advocacy, community-based adaptation as well as roles of media in raising public awareness on climate communication and public access to information.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr N Sanamacha Meetei, Development Officer, Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, Manipur.
