Imphal, January 28 2026: The State PC-PNDT Cell, Directorate of Family Welfare Services, and National Health Mission Manipur, jointly organised a Walkathon today as part of the awareness campaign for National Girl Child Day, 2026 .

The event, held under the slogan "Empowering Every Daughter and Building a Stronger India", aimed to spread awareness about the rights and welfare of girl children.

Director of Family Welfare Services, Dr N Bino Singh, flagged off the Walkathon, emphasizing the importance of promoting education, health, and safety for girls.

Participants included students, teachers, and staff from various institutions, who marched to raise awareness about issues like gender bias and child marriage.

The National Girl Child Day focuses on protecting and uplifting girl children, addressing challenges like female foeticide, poor nutrition, and limited access to education.

The event aimed to promote equal opportunities and rights for girls in every field.
