4 sent to jail, 2 granted bail

Imphal, June 27 2025:
While four accused arrested in connection with the illegal detention and murder of Chesam Abdul Kadir have been sent to jail, two others have been granted bail.
The accused persons identified as Heikrujam Prafullo (35) s/o (late) Sharat of Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai, Huidrom Shyamsunder alias Naoba (30) s/o Inaomacha of Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai, Longjam Hanson alias Naocha (24) s/o Maimu of Wangoi Longjam Leikai, Thounaojam Ashok (22) s/o Amujao of Wangoi Longjam Leikai, Heikrujam Premchand alias Puremba (28) s/o (L) Chinglen of Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai and Sapam Dayani Devi (42) d/o Mangoljao of Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai were produced before the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Imphal West today after the completion of police custody period.
Whereas the State's APP prayed for further remand, the defence counsel of the accused persons filed a remand objection along with a prayer for releasing them on bail.
The Court, after hearing the submission of the APP, the defence counsels and on perusal of the case record, passed an order for releasing Heikrujam Prafullo and Sapam Dayani Devi on bail on their execution of Rs 1 lakh PR bond with one surety each and on the condition that they shall be available for interrogation by the IO as and when required, they shall not commit similar offence in the future, they shall not leave the State of Manipur without prior permission of the Court and they shall not temper or threaten the witnesses or complainants of the case.
On the other hand, the Court remanded the other four other accused persons arrested in connection with the present case till July 11 for smooth investigation of the case.
The main accused of the case Longjam Boy alias Khaba (35) s/o Ibohal of Yumnam Huidrom Thiyam Leishangkhong who was arrested in connection with the case on June 22 night is in police custody and will be produced before the Court on June 30 for further legal procedure.
Notably police had arrested 10 persons including seven Arambai Tenggol members and three civilians in connection with the case.
