Imphal, May 24 2025: Two men have been killed in a tragic road accident that took place along Imphal-Jiribam highway at Sehjang village under Noney police station.

Police sources said that the accident happened at around 2 pm on May 23 when a Bolero Pick-up travelling from Imphal toward Noney skidded at Sehjang village near milestone number 43 along the NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam highway).

Two persons on board the vehicle died on the spot and the driver and another passenger sustained critical injuries.

While the driver was evacuated for treatment at Imphal, bodies of the deceased victims were deposited at JNIMS morgue for post mortem.

The deceased victims have been identified as Gaimeijuan Kamei (45) s/o Pantilung Gangmei of Noney Part IV, Peace Island and Demalu Hansu (26) s/o Chandra Kachari of Dishagisim, Karbi Anglong, Assam.

The injured driver has been identified as Pousinthui Gangmei (36) s/o Gongjoan Gangmei of Noney Part IV, Peace Island.

Noney Police has registered a suo moto case regarding the incident, said the sources.
