Thoubal, April 24 2026:
Demanding justice and accountability for the Tronglaobi bomb attack that claimed the lives of two innocent children, as well as the alleged killing of three protesting civilians in firing by CRPF personnel, torch rallies were held across parts of Thoubal district on Thursday evening.
The rally in Charangpat, organised by the Charangpat and Nepra Company Apunba Meira Paibi began from Charangpat and proceeded upto Thoubal Athokpam, with protesters chanting slogans condemning the killing of children and civilians and demanding stringent punishment for the perpetrators involved.
Demonstrators also raised slogans like "We Condemn Government Failure to Ensure Public Safety", "Carry out Military Crackdown against Kuki-Narco Terrorists".
Taking part in the protest, a Meira Paibi leader, Manglembi, urged the government to immediately restore peace and normalcy in the State.
She cautioned that if the situation remained unresolved, Meira Paibis of Nepra and Charangpat would intensify their agitation.
In a similar show of protest, the Keirak Meira Paibi also organised a torch rally condemning the April 7 Tronglaobi bomb attack that killed two children and the alleged killing of three protesting civilians by CRPF personnel.
Residents of Keirak turned out in large numbers, gathering at Keira Keithel Lampak before proceeding along National Highway 137 (A) .
During the rally, protesters raised slogans such as "Punish the perpetrators involved in killing children", "Take appropriate action against the CRPF personnel involved in killing civilians", and "No justice, No peace" .
Speaking in connection with the protest, representatives of the Keirak Apunba Meira Paibi expressed concern over the government's inability to identify the perpetrators, even though the case has been handed over to the NIA .
They questioned why Central forces remained mute spectators when the Kuki militants allegedly attacked civilians and criticised the authorities for failing to produce any leads in the case so far.
The protest concluded with a candlelight vigil at Keirak Community Hall, where participants paid homage to the deceased by offering prayers for their eternal peace.
