Memorial statue unveiled in honour of late Gaijanglung Kamei at Longmai

A memorial statue unveiling and commemoration programme in honour of Late Gaijanglung Kamei, retired District Inspector (DI), ADC Tamenglong, and founder of the Children Training School (CTS), was held on Saturday at the CTS campus, Longmai-3, Noney district headquarters.
The programme was officiated by Rev Ngamdisin Kamei, pastor of Longmai-3 Baptist Church, while Dr Kadilan Kamei, Assistant Pastor of the church, led the proceedings.
The memorial statue was unveiled by Rev Ngamdisin Kamei, followed by a memorial song rendered by the local church choir.
An introductory address was delivered by K Ivan, eldest son of the late Gaijanglung Kamei.

The biodata of the departed soul was released by the Minister and read out by Gongjai Kamson, secretary Longmai PEI.
Sharing the life and legacy of Late Gaijanglung Kamei, his wife Lumanliu Kameipui, along with several prominent leaders of the Longmai area, spoke on his lifelong contributions to society, education and faith.
Speakers recalled him as a pioneer of Rongmei Tribe Recognition, the Rongmei Literature Society, and the founder of the Longmai Area Welfare Association (LAWA).
He was also a founding member of institutions including Tengkonjang Hr Sec School, Jadonang Memorial College, Longmai Churches Fellowship, and the Baptist Men's Society, besides actively serving in various religious and social platforms.
The speakers described Late Gaijanglung as "a light of society whose deeds and spirit will continue to inspire future generations.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Stephen Kamei.
