Nemcha chairs review meeting at Kangpokpi

Kangpokpi, April 21 2020: Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister, Nemcha Kipgen chaired a review meeting with the medical department today at Kangpokpi DHQs.

Nemcha Kipgen is the in-charge Minister of Kangpokpi and Senapati districts to supervise the various activities for combating measures related to the outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and ensuring supplies of essential commodities to public The review meeting held at the office chamber of in-charge Medical Superintendent of district Hospital Kangpokpi was attended by Dr Nilakanta Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Paotinlal, i/c MS, Dr Len Kamkhosat Khongsai, District Surveillance Officer, D Pilhing and Dr Thangboi.

At the meeting, Dr Nilakanta Singh highlighted the various grievances being faced by the hospital staffs including doctors and other health workers.

The in-charge Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Kangpokpi, Dr Paotinlal Haokip highlighted the activities and measures taken up by the district health department in combating the deadly pandemic COVID-19 in the district and also put up the various shortages and grievances witness by the frontline workers.

Nemcha Kipgen, while appreciating the efforts of the health workers, assured to help the medical team at her level best including fuel for doctors on duty, ambulance and other requirements to ensure smooth and better services towards the people.

The District in-charge Minister also assured to provide racks for storage of medicines and non-medicinal items, renovation/repairing of CHC/District Hospital, Kangpokpi, renovation/repairing of CMO Office, Kangpokpi and construction of public toilet near the CHC/District Hospital Kangpokpi.

The Minister further assured to provide 500 masks to the health workers of the district.

Taking advantage of the visit of the Minister, Dr Paotinlal Haokip highlighted the non-feasibility of opening isolation ward at the District Hospital/CHC Kangpokpi owing to shortage of infrastructure, mechanism and manpower.

He also highlighted that the newly installed X-Ray could not be operated owing to non-availability of sufficient power, at which the Minister assured to arrange separate transformer for the hospital.

The in-charge Medical Superintendent also highlighted the shortage of manpower at the District Hospital/CHC Kangpokpi, stating that of 14 staff nurses posted at the hospital, only six nurses are posted at present.

He also appealed to the Minister to post at least one Paediatrician, Medicine Specialist and one additional Medical Officer.
