Speaker advises youth to join politics

Imphal, September 20 2026: Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata has asserted that it is necessary for youth to join politics in order to bring about a progressive Manipur.

The Speaker was speaking at a political conference organised by Yaiskul Youth at Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi today.

Satyabrata stated that a country or State will develop as much as its youth are involved in politics.

He invited all benevolent and social-minded youth to come to politics.

He said that a policy will be drafted for the development and growth of the youth of Yaiskul Assembly segment.

Satyabrata said that the youth have a big role in creating a strong Manipur.

The portion of the total geographical area of Manipur where Meiteis settled is extremely small and the fertility rate of the Meitei community has declined drastically, he said.

If the report that the Meitei community's fertility rate has declined to 1.7 per cent is true, the community is staring at a very bleak future, Satyabrata said.

Warning that the Meitei community may disappear after 15 years from now, he said that the youth cannot just sit back and watch.

Satyabrata also announced that coaching classes for Class X and Class XII students will be launched soon.
